LMU’s Davis earns All-Tournament honors at McAmis Memorial Tournament

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Senior Lindsay Davis (Tazewell, Tenn.) landed on the All-Tournament Team after leading the Lincoln Memorial University women’s golf team to an eighth-place finish in the Agnes McAmis Memorial, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn. The Lady Railsplitters finished with a 76-over par total of 652 in the 36-hole event.

In the final regular season tournament, which featured 16 teams and 96 individual golfers, the Lady Railsplitters finished fifth among the eight South Atlantic Conference programs in attendance with 327+325=652 (+76). Lander won the event with rounds of 320 and 307 for a two-day total of 627 (+51), beating out King by six strokes. The Tornado were runners-up with rounds of 311 and 322. Carson-Newman finished third with 318+319=637 (+61), while USC Beaufort (643) and Newberry (646) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

In terms of SAC programs, the Lady Railsplitters finished ahead of Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson in the event.

Lander’s Mariana Martins and Wingate’s Caitlin Starrs, the defending Agnes McAmis Memorial individual medalist, finished tied for the top spot in the final standings with seven-over par totals of 151, but Martins was awarded this season’s individual medalist honor via a scorecard playoff.

Davis paced the Lady Railsplitters and earned the final spot on the All-Tournament Team with rounds of 79 and 76, good for a two-round total of 155 (+11) and a share of fifth place. It marks the third top-five finish of Davis’s senior season.

Sophomore Sydney Gallant (Angus, Ontario, Canada) carded 77+80=157 (+13) to complete the event in a three-way tie for 10th place, but she was the only other LMU player to deliver a top-40 performance.

Seniors Lindy McGuire (Maryville, Tenn.) and Mercedes Smith (Monterey, Tenn.) tied for 47th place with 26-over par totals of 170. McGuire shot 87 and 83, while Smith posted back-to-back rounds of 85. Smith was competing in the event as an individual.

Kasey Ankrom (Bean Station, Tenn.) tied for 59th place with rounds of 84 and 89, while Michaela Conway (Chester, Va.) took a share of 68th place with rounds of 90 and 86.

Also in the individual competition, Celeste Stratton (Rutledge, Tenn.) tied for 88th place.

The Lady Railsplitters will now begin preparations for the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which is set for 54 holes at Sevierville Golf Club April 12-14.
