In a classic pitcher’s duel, Middlesboro’s Tyler Yoakum no-hit visiting Bell County as the Yellow Jackets picked up a valuable district win 1-0. For Middlesboro, Jake Brock scored an unearned run in the first inning after doubling, stealing a base, and then scoring when the throw got away at third. Yoakum made it stand up the rest of the way for the win. Bell County’s Austin North only allowed six hits and pitched a solid game himself, but the Bobcat bats were too ineffective against Yoakum to stage a comeback.
Middlesboro improved to 11-3 while Bell County fell to 4-10.

NEXT: Middlesboro is scheduled to host Hazard at 6pm on the 20th in a sectional playoff that will send the winner to Lexington and the All A Classic State Baseball Tournament. Bell County has a home game with North Laurel on their schedule.
