Bobcats win 21-7 over Wayne County

Bell County took advantage of three Wayne County turnovers in the first quarter and turned them all into touchdowns for a 21-0 lead after one period of play as they went on to claim a 21-7 district win over the visiting Cardinals.

An interception on the Cardinals’ first possession set the Bobcats up with a short field.  They would go in front on Peyton Collett’s 12 yard touchdown pass to Jonathon Polly.  Hayden Gilbert’s PAT made it a7-0 game.

Wayne County then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Bobcat offense went back on the field.  They would score a couple of plays later on a Ryan Collett 13 yard run.  Gilbert made it 14-0.

Still in the first quarter, Wayne County fumbled away a Bobcat punt and handed them great field position again.  Ryan Collett’s 17 yard dash and Gilbert’s PAT put the Cats up 21-0.

Wayne County got on the board in the second quarter after intercepting a Peyton Collett pass that popped high into the air off receiver Jeremy Green when Green was hit while trying to make the catch.  The visiting Cardinals took advantage of the turnover and later scored on the drive when Junior Ruiz scored on a 2 yard run.  The PAT made it a 21-7 ballgame.

It would be all the scoring in the game for either team as Bell County held off Wayne County 21-7 in the district opener for both teams.

Bell County improved to 4-1 while Wayne County lost for the first time this season and fell to 5-1.

Polly led Bell County in rushing with 104 yards on 18 carries.  Ruiz had 46 yards on 9 rushes; Cody Rhule added 45  yards on 12 carries.  Wayne County had 89 net rushing yards; Bell County 125.
