HARROGATE, TN — The Lincoln Memorial University
baseball team will be offering a free Youth Baseball Clinic on Saturday,
November 17th at Lamar Hennon Field, Railsplitter head coach Jeff
Sziksai announced Monday morning.
This free clinic will be offered for kids ages 5-12, as all area
youth are invited and encouraged to attend. The clinic is slated to run
from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 17th.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to meet the Railsplitters’
players and staff for the 2013 campaign, as well as learn the
fundamentals of hitting, pitching, throwing and fielding.

The LMU baseball team is gearing up for the 2013 season, scheduled to
kickoff on February 1st in Aiken, South Carolina against the Pacers of
USC Aiken.

Phillips Talks Attitude in Practice, Seniors Contribution
Sophomore safety Ashely Lowery to miss rest of season with finger injury
LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky football head coach Joker
Phillips and the Kentucky football team practiced indoors at the Nutter
Field House on Wednesday to continue its preparation for the Samford
Bulldogs. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Commonwealth
Stadium and will be televised on CSS.
After practice, Phillips congratulated senior center Matt Smith for
being named a finalist for the 2012 Wuerffel Trophy, which honors the
college football player who best combines exemplary community service
with outstanding academic and athletic achievement.
On the field Phillips continued to compliment the attitude of the
team and the effort the players have brought to practice. Phillips said
the players are still listening and making themselves better.

Ky. – At the beginning of the early signing period, the Kentucky men’s
basketball team has received National Letters of Intent from Aaron and
Andrew Harrison, Marcus Lee, Derek Willis and James Young, head coach
John Calipari announced Thursday.

COLUMBIA,
Ky. — Matt Powers and Jon Smith have been named All Mid-South
Conference West Division First-Team, conference officials announced on
Thursday.
The two Blue Raiders are part of the 32-man first-team as voted on by the MSC West Division Coaches.
Ben Madon, Shannan Coofer, Andrew Wahl and Sam Wilson were named to the West’s honorable mention team.

HARROGATE, TN — After facing an early 5-2 hole, the
Lincoln Memorial University Lady Railsplitters scored two quick buckets
to take the lead and never trailed for the remainder of the contest en
route to capturing a 70-58 victory over the Lions of Bryan College in
women’s basketball action on Wednesday evening in Tex Turner Arena.
With the commanding victory, the Lady Railsplitters jump out to a 2-1
start in the early portion of the schedule. The Lions fall to 4-2 on
the season with the loss.

Kentucky vs. Duke

–Duke improves to 2-0 on the season following a 75-68 victory over Kentucky. The Wildcats fall to 1-1 on the year with the loss.
–Despite the loss, Kentucky still leads the overall series by an 11-9
mark. Duke has won seven of the last eight matchups. UK coach John
Calipari is now 0-2 against Duke.
–Kentucky’s record against schools comprising the Atlantic Coast
Conference drops to 127-62. UK is 1-1 against ACC schools this season.
Calipari’s record against the ACC now stands at 18-11.
–Kentucky’s record in the Atlanta area moves to 68-30.
–Tonight’s loss is the first as the No. 3 ranked team under Calipari as
UK is now 17-1. Kentucky’s overall record as the No. 3 ranked team
stands at 150-33.
–Kentucky returns to action on Friday, Nov. 16 when UK will open its
home slate at Rupp Arena vs. Layfatte (Pa.) as a part of the Barclay’s
Center Classic. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. ET tip. It begins a
stretch of three-consecutive games at home.

Patriots to Host MidAmerica Nazarene in NAIA Football Championship Series
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) football program had one of
its best regular seasons in program history in 2012 going 9-1 on the
season and 5-1 in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play. With their only loss
being to then #2 Georgetown College 41-35, the Patriots worked their
way back up to the #7 ranking in the NAIA and are in line to host a
first round game in the NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS). On
Sunday, UC’s opposition was named.

Wiltjer Named SEC Player of the Week
First weekly award for the sophomore
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore Kyle Wiltjer has been named the
Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after scoring 19 points and
recording six rebounds, three blocks and two assists in a72-69 victory
over Maryland.
Wiltjer led the Wildcats with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting including a
4-for-6 clip from 3-point range. The four 3-pointers rank as a career
high in addition to a career-high three swats. His 19 points are the
most since scoring 24 against Loyola on Dec. 22, 2011. He scored 11
first half points to reach double-figures for just the sixth time in his
career. He also sunk two free throws in a clutch situation (final three
minutes in a six-point game).
The honor is the first in Wiltjer’s career and the first for UK this season.
The Wildcats are in action Tuesday night taking on the Duke Blue
Devils in the Champions Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. and
the game will be televised live on ESPN.
The Wildcats and Lady Bears meet for the first time in program history
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 6/7 Kentucky women’s basketball team travels to
Waco, Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 13 to take on defending national champion
and top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears in the prestigious State Farm Tip-off
Classic. The game will be televised live at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2 with Dave
O’Brien, Doris Burke and Holly Rowe calling the action.
